Use the song as practice, not a race.
Your child does not need to master all 26 sounds in one sitting. Watch together, pause whenever needed, and repeat smaller groups of letters until the sounds become familiar.
Help the sound stick.
- Listen first. Let your child hear the letter sound and example word.
- Echo the sound. Pause and have your child repeat the sound clearly.
- Connect sound to picture. Ask, “What sound do you hear at the beginning of ant?”
- Practice in small groups. A–G, H–N, and O–Z are easy stopping points for repeat practice.
- Come back tomorrow. Short, cheerful repetition is more useful than pushing through frustration.
Turn watching into participation.
Pause after a letter and let your child make the sound before Grammy repeats it.
Look around the room for another object that begins with the same sound.
Point to letters out of order and see which sounds your child remembers without the song.
